The Strategy Support & Projects team is looking for an outgoing, dynamic and highly motivated intern who is curious and eager to learn more about strategy within the international company based in Amsterdam. The intern will assist the team in implementing the agreed new business strategy for the coming year across the global organisation by coordinating and delivering the required projects.
In addition to the wide variety of projects and responsibilities you will have, learning will be a central element of your internship programme, allowing you to develop yourself and your professional competencies, with the help of a personal mentor.
The intern will be able to gain practical experience working in a diverse team of experienced professionals. The highly energetic team is committed to challenging the successful candidate’s skills and competencies through on-the-job learning, mentoring by the Strategy Officer and coaching by project colleagues. More specifically, as an intern within the Strategy Support & Projects team you will contribute to the development and implementation of the central strategic project. You will be a dedicated member of the Strategy Support & Projects team, providing them with tactical and operational support while being assigned to two individual projects:
•Redesigning processes in financial services
•Enhancing the client portal as a digital channel for clients.
Key responsibilities include:
•effectively support project staff in executing their deliverables
•take ownership for your own specific deliverables
•ensure timely project reporting to programme management for the assigned projects
•take responsibility for communicating your work and the projects to your peer group
•challenge the status quo by bringing in new perspectives
The intern will take back key learnings in several areas:
•application of LEAN methodology in process re-engineering
•insight into the banking/financial services business as well as IT and how to effectively combine the two
•integration of FinTech solutions and partners into an existing business
•effective collaboration in an international organisation with different local cultures
Eligibility: university level
• Minimum – successfully completed Bachelor’s degree
•Preferred – successfully completed Master’s degree or dual Bachelor’s degree
Subject: business administration, IT (with business application focus) or similar/related
Professional qualifications: previous internships or work experience preferably in
•Industries – financial services (retail banking), IT/technology, FinTech, or management consulting; and
•Functions – project management, client research/analytics, or product management
Language: fluent in English, written and spoken (understanding of Dutch and/or German is an advantage)
Duration: available for a minimum of 6 months full-time. If you are able to intern part-time only, please indicate how many days per week you would be available.
•A solid understanding of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
•Ability to quickly adopt working knowledge of other IT applications
Planning, organising and integrating (managerial) knowledge:
•Highly self-organised and structured; ability to work independently on assigned projects and under time pressure
•Flexible; ability to adapt to changing priorities
•Ability to plan parts of the projects, aligning with other team members and tracking progress
Communicating and influencing skills:
•Ability to effectively liaise with other project team members and to build strong working relations
